Hypnotherapy for children and teenagers
Hypnosis can be very effective for young people. As adults, many of our issues can stem from traumas or confidence knocks that we experienced in childhood which may have left us feeling insecure on some level.
By helping young people overcome and understand those issues from an early age, we are enabling them to build their confidence, take control and adopt lifelong skills and resources which will empower them.
Hypnosis for children
Children are very open and receptive to new ideas and learning. They tend to think literally and creatively, using their imagination as an important resource. As they learn and grow, some children are vulnerable to feelings of anxiety or uncertainty. By choosing careful words and weaving an interesting, relevant story hypnosis can help children to process and understand their world, adapt to changes, and eliminate worries.
Typical childrens issues treated with hypnosis:
- Family issues (divorce, house move etc
- Starting school
- Self esteem and confidence
Children are generally suitable for hypnosis around the age of 5/6 years upwards and will require a parental presence.
Hypnosis for teenagers
Teenagers can have a lot of new challenges to overcome, whether it is struggling with poor self image, exam pressures, feeling blue due to hormonal changes, or being uncertain over their sexuality. It can be a highly charged, turbulent time during that transition from childhood to adulthood, so hypnosis teaches them how to relax, discharge stress, improve concentration, and can help with many other varying situations. Sometimes just having a safe, neutral environment to discuss things makes all the difference, along with the clinical aspect of formal therapy to help them make lasting changes.
Typical teenager issues treated with hypnosis:
- Exam nerves
- Confidence and self esteem
- Obssessive Compulsive Disorders
